WikiLeaks had already been taken to enter the traditional comic pages. If a few days ago, DC gave the note to make Superman renounce U.S. citizenship , this time is Marvel who politicized his cartoons with a current event. In the latest issue of Secret Avengers (12.1), a new threat that must be faced: the leaking of sensitive information . Sound familiar?
Although never mentioned as such the name of WikiLeaks, the parallels are obvious. Everything begins with a soldier who, disguised in a bad version of the costume of Captain America, decides to steal information from a military installation in Switzerland. The Informant up to the Internet all the personal data of persons who, at some point, gave clues that helped to capture some of the world's deadliest super-villains. Of course, this soldier was less careful than people WikiLeaks, leaving without editing the documents and give the real name of all sources. His modus operandi sounds familiar: up all the information to an FTP server, and then anonymously sent the documents to the mainstream media - including the Daily Bugle. Naturally, the news spreads like wildfire. At its headquarters, Captain America, now under the identity of Super-Soldier reflects on how to tackle this threat. Diplomatic as ever, Beast says many of the informants are villains pardoned by cooperating with authorities. Of course, Captain America indicates that, regardless of whether their motives were for conviction or interest, must act to prevent exposed 419 people are killed by settling of scores. To fan the flames, the soldier decides to upload video to YouTube with anarchists dyes, which explains that released the information because he is fed up of groups of superheroes who are not accountable to anyone. Of course, that dislike of Captain America, who bursts in and gives a beating to snitch, closing with a monologue that sums up all the rhetoric about the U.S. government against WikiLeaks leaks.
Winks are evident (almost parodic): the use of Swiss-Swedish instead of Julian Assange partner country over allegations of violations, "the military denies those in power as Bradley Manning, seepage major newspapers such as the Times or the Guardian, among others. Marvel gets back to thorny with current issues, but this time seems not to have charged against the current administration, but his favor. Of course, it is too early to judge, but this episode opens the door to see how the editorial addresses one of the phenomena of information has completely changed our world.
