The smartphone market continues to evolve, according to a study recently published IDC can read data that are interesting on how that market has been changing in recent quarters. One is that Apple is increasingly close to becoming the best selling manufacturer of smart phones, making ground with which currently holds that position, Nokia. The Finnish manufacturer has had a considerable drop from last year, in the first quarter of 2011 Nokia has sold more than 24 million phone units, exceeding the 21.5 million the same period last year, but not prevent its share of sales fall 38.8% to 24.3%. This is because during the same period have nearly smartphone sales have risen by almost 80%, but sold more terminal manufacturers. Sales of Apple have risen in ten million, which made them spend 15.7% of sales 18.7% hata, which puts them behind Nokia and ahead of RIM, which for the first quarter this year has sold 13.9 million units, three more than a year ago but down about five points. Who has improved their numbers have been Samsung and HTC, the first has gone from selling 2.4 million in the first quarter of 2010 to increase sales by 350% reaching 10.8 million handsets sold. The situation of HTC is similar and although growth is not as big as Samsung has risen from 2.7 million units to 8.9. These are the sales of the top five manufacturers, but there is a sixth group which encompasses the rest. Sales for this group are a total of 23.2 million units, growing from 9.5 million in the first quarter last year. This shows that the smartphone market is increasingly competitive, but is dominated by a few who are those who in some way or another, set the trend in this sector.
