Last night, America, one of the most emblematic soccer teams from Mexico, was defeated in the playoffs against Morelia. He immediately began teasing at Twitter against the followers of the club-the first or second most drag among fans, by the deletion. The phrase "Goodbye America" came quickly to the trending topics, very common situation when there is a relevant party. So far, nothing special. Droll note came when a number of U.S. users noticed the phrase and began to wonder about their meaning. Many thought it was some kind of terrorist threat (WTF!) in Mexico and were disturbed about it. After all, the death of Osama bin Laden is still fresh in the minds of Americans, coupled with the statement of Al-Qaeda to shoot a nuclear attack if their leader was captured or killed. Also worth remembering that the U.S. people calls your country "America" (as the rest of the continent is "The Americas"), prompting the confusion. The misunderstanding lasted several hours, the extent of promoting the issue as global TT. It was not until later that users of United States realized that it was a football issue. Of course, in Mexico did not let the incident arose hashtag # gringospendejos ridiculed the paranoia of their northern neighbors. Through these tags, Mexico has been dedicated to throwing everything in the United States with different jokes and complaints - in particular, to believe that America is only one country and not the entire continent. The incident will remain as one of the anecdotes that Twitter gives us, and how a theme can be interpreted in so many different ways according to context. It seems illogical the U.S. reaction, considering the circumstances and the cultural notion seen as the navel of the world. So, my fellow gringos, there is nothing to worry about: no bombs, threats, or terrorists. And American fans, my condolences for another year of drought in the championship.
